About Us
Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire (OxSAR) are a voluntary Search and Rescue team.
One of 35 member teams of Lowland Rescue. We are on call 24/7 to support our partner agencies; Thames Valley Police, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, the Oxfordshire Local Resilience Forum and other Lowland Rescue and Mountain Rescue teams.
We number around 100 local people from all walks of life and provide a wide range of specialist services to our partners.
Our Water Unit are accredited by Rescue 3. This is a nationwide qualification for water rescue and water safety.
Our History
Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire became operational in 2008 as Isis Search and Rescue, later renamed Oxfordshire Lowland Search and Rescue then finally Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire. We where initially focused on foot search and expanded to incorporate water rescue, dog search and drone search.
In 2019 we where honored to receive The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
By 2022 we had attended over 600 incidents equating to over 18,000 hours deployed on searches both in and out of our county.
